This is a quick overview of soldering a simple electronic circuit including a switch, battery, and two LED lights. This is not an area of expertise for me so this is not meant to be a thorough demonstration. I just thought you might be interested to see the process. It is also worth pointing out that I was able to figure it out from youtube videos and so could you.
This is a project I began as a class demonstration years ago and have always intended to finish it as a gift for a friend. This first demonstration will be just an introduction to the project. I have some explaining to do just to get you caught up to the point where I left off.
Part 3: Detail
The final part of our still life painting project. This is mostly a sped up video of my polishing the painting with some detail. The principle of working "general to specific" is just as relevant here.
Today I will get into the detail of the still life project. I believe detail isn't difficult to paint as much as it is difficult to integrate. If you don't gradually build up to detail there is a good chance it won't feel like it is connected to the subject matter and space in your painting. If the details aren't working there's a good chance the best way to fix them are to paint over them and try building them up again.
Part 2: Blocking in
Last week I used thinned acrylic paint to rough in the basic drawing of my composition. I also toned the canvas.
For this next part I will block in large areas of color. Each major element or shape of my composition will be painted very generally with two colors: 1 highlight color...
This is the second part of this still life painting project. I will focus on the what I consider to be the most difficult part of a painting - blocking in. This stage of a painting is not technically difficult. It is psychologically difficult. It requires that we postpone painting the fun details that are often the whole reason we want to do the painting. We will get to some details next week.
This is going to be a pretty straight forward acrylic still life painting. I am going to spend a little more time than usual talking about some preparation for the painting. As we develop skills with materials and techniques we also need to be developing skills of personal expression. I want you...
This will be the first part of a still life painting I have composed out of objects from my life. In this first part I want to get into some of the basics of preparing for a painting. At the end of this demo we will have our basic composition blocked in as a simple line drawing in acrylic paint...

At the end of this demo we will have our basic composition blocked in as a simple line drawing in acrylic paint. This project will be rendered entirely in acrylic.
