Today I showed you one of the ways I like to make drawings. I started with a color pencil sketch on grey paper. Then I used "Pan" pastels to block in highlights, shadows and colors. Finally I used a brush and India ink to put in some sharper contour lines.
Hopefully it gave you some ideas of how you can combine several different materials in one drawing. If you haven't tried Pan pastels I would recommend picking up black and white cakes and an applicator so you can get a feel for what they are like. They are a little expensive though so just buy a couple to start with. They are a lot of fun to use and worth trying out.
NEXT WEEK: is our final class. Similar to todays demonstration I will show you some materials I like to use in my own art making. Use this as another workday to finish any projects you weren't able to complete during the semester. We will have a final critique at the end of class.
