The laser cuts very fast for most projects. Engraving images takes much longer than cutting. The max dimensions are 19” x 26” inches with the option to go larger using pass-through windows. If you have a sincerely tiny project or budget, swing by and I’ll take a look.

Materials & Info

Glass

Wine glasses, shot glasses, champagne bottles, perfume bottles, decanters, and many other glass objects can be engraved. Engraved glass looks frosted and looks especially good on darker colors of glass that provide more contrast.

Color Coated Metal Tumblers, Water Bottles

Yeti and Thermoflask are two popular brands but any “powder coated” metal vessel can be engraved with a graphic, text, or photograph. Colored metal can often be engraved such as anodized and lacquered metals.

Bare Metal Objects and Vessels

My CO2 lasers can't cut or remove metal, but they can perform metal marking. I apply a chemical to the metal's surface before laser treatment, resulting in a durable and easily visible black marking. Most bare metals can be marked this way, except those coated with paint or lacquer.

Leather

Most leathers engrave well but can vary significantly in result. It is always good to bring in a sample of the leather you are using so testing can be done before working on your final product.

Custom Clay Stamps

Add your pricing strategy. Be sure to include important details like value, length of service, and why it’s unique. Clay stamps are made with rigid acrylic and mounted to a hardwood backing. A range of sizes are available.

Plastic and Acrylic Cutting and Engraving

There are many different kinds of plastic. Most plastics, (excluding PVC-containing materials like vinyl), can be laser cut and engraved. This includes acrylic, plexiglass, and many household plastic products.

Rocks, Stone, Mother of Pearl, Shells, etc.

Stone can be engraved up to a depth of a few millimeters. The more porous the stone is the less sharp the lines of text or graphics will be. Photographs can also be engraved on stone.

Wood, Cork, Bamboo, etc.

Various woods can be laser cut and engraved, but outcomes vary. High oil content yields darker engravings, while softer, less oily woods are lighter. Some produce less soot when cut. Ask me about your specific wood type.

Custom Art Projects

Laser cutting and engraving can be used in combination with a multitude of other creative media. If you have an idea for art, crafts, prototypes, custom jigs, collector’s editions, VIP passes, or anything that requires combining materials and techniques.. contact me so we can discuss the best solutions for your project.

Yes, I engrave Yeti’s.

  • $50 Setup Fee + $2/min laser time

    +$15 per additional graphic element

    +$5 per additional name engraving

For example, if you want a logo on each bottle, and also everyone’s unique name on each bottle—that would be $50 setup (for all the logo engravings) + $25 per name + $2/min laser time.

  • I source Yeti’s from the same places you can. Either you bring them to me, or +$60 sourcing fee for me to go purchase them for you.

  • If it looks like you could get it engraved, you’re probably right—Yeti, Stanley, etc. Reach out and I can confirm for sure.

  • I cannot work magic. It’s like hair, once you engrave it, you can’t reverse it. However I can get creative and help you cover it up the best we can. If you can afford a new cup, I recommend starting fresh.

What about metal?

What’s the difference between metal marking vs. metal embossing?

Embossing

Metal embossing creates a permanent indentation in the metal—the laser blasts away material to create a literal 3D design on the surface of the metal.

Marking

Metal marking uses a chemical die in order to “mark” the metal, allowing for any kind of design to be applied. There isn’t much of an indentation, if at all.

I do metal marking. I do not do metal embossing or cutting.

I have CO2 lasers, and CO2 lasers cannot remove or cut metal. In order to make a mark on bare metal I do what is called “metal marking”, which is a process where I apply a chemical to the surface of the metal before running the laser. The result is a very durable and permanent black marking on the surface of the metal. For some projects this is preferable to a true engrave because the black provides more contrast with the surrounding metal. Most bare metals can be marked in this way, however if the product has been coated with paint or lacquer this process will not work.

What I don’t do:

❌ Glass (this may change in the future)

❌ Metal Cutting or Embossing (I only do Metal Marking)

❌ No PVC-based plastics

⚠️ If you don’t know what the material is made of, email or text me a link to the product page so I can better assist you.

Hey I’m Trent. I am an artist and teacher in addition to providing laser cutting and engraving services. I use the laser extensively in my own artwork and welcome the opportunity to tell you why you need more laser cutting and engraving in your art practice.

Private instruction is also available.
